First Pitch Perfect 2 Plot Details Revealed

Source: Scot Scoop
Who's ac-a-ready for more? Ac-a-pologies in advance for all of the horrendous puns...
Executive producer and supporting cast member Elizabeth Banks has this week unveiled the first details regarding the plot of Universal Pictures' impending musical-comedy blockbuster Pitch Perfect 2. Directed by Banks (who's probably best known for her portrayal of Effie in the critically lauded Hunger Games film franchise), the sequel to 2012's Pitch Perfect will once again star Twilight's Anna Kendrick and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb's Rebel Wilson as members of a now-infamous a capella society known only as the Barden Bellas.

Given the success with which the impressively competent original film was met last year, few would likely blame Banks for sticking to the pre-established narrative formula and giving us more of the same in eight months' time. That doesn't appear to be the case, however, at least based on a recent interview the helmer gave to Yahoo; here's what she had to say: "The [Bellas] are now graduating [university]. They're coming to the end of their time as Bellas and figuring out how to [...] leave the nest and the comfort of each other's friendship and figure out what they're going to do with the rest of their lives." Anyone who's had the 'pleasure' of watching films such as High School Musical 3: Senior Year or American Reunion (both of which have their fair share of merits, to their credit) will know roughly what to expect from graduation-themed motion pictures of this ilk, yet we're sure that Banks is all too aware of the commonplace nature of such projects and will thus be eager to subvert the audience's preconceptions of this particular sub-genre in the most memorable manner possible. Stay tuned to On-Screen in the weeks ahead for more details on Pitch Perfect 2's narrative and increasingly potent cast ensemble as and when they come.

Pitch Perfect 2 reclaims its rightful place at centre-stage in cinemas worldwide on May 15th, 2015.
