MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3: FATE OF TWO WORLDS (9.5/10)
Short of Batman: Arkham City (hmm, where's that on this list...?), there was no greater measure of video gaming fan service to comic book diehards than Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds in 2011. This fighting franchise had always stayed true to the fanbases of the two companies involved, but with high-definition graphics and a user interface akin to a comic book panel in more ways than one, Capcom stepped up their game (no pun intended) dramatically here, putting MVC3 ahead of all its competitors with a wonderful degree of flair and originality. Yep, if you've ever loved reading the stories of Iron Man, the Avengers or Spider-Man, there really was no better place to come than here this year! Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds couldn't rank much higher seeing as its storyline was miniscule and the single-player segment as a whole quite disappointing, but it still managed to overthrow all of my expectations of a modern day fighter, and for that I can't commend it highly enough.
