VGAs 2011: Alan Wake's American Nightmare Announced

Well, much as most of us were praying that the linear travesty that was Alan Wake had been canned before any sequels could arrive, I guess our prayers weren't heard. Case in point: Remedy Entertainment and Microsoft unveiled Alan Wake's American Nightmare, a downloadable mini-sequel to the critically panned 2010 game, at last night's VGAs. The title picks up where AW left off, with Alan trapped in his story world and trying to escape his delusions, only this time it sees the author attempting to face off against his own evil doppelganger using the torch-based gameplay from the original. Certainly the trailer doesn't do wonders for my excitement levels, but perhaps there is hope for American Nightmare if Remedy can fix the disjointed engine and mechanics. Alan Wake's American Nightmare will arrive on Xbox Live in Spring 2012.
