Filling The Doctor Who Void- News Roundup (5th-11th December)

This week's actually been a pretty eventful one for Doctor Who, packed with exciting announcements and reveals, and as always this is the best place to catch everything you may have missed:

  • You can catch previews for each of the fifty odd tracks about to be made available via the Doctor Who Series Six soundtrack on Amazon.co.uk right now. Right now, my personal favourites are I See You Silence, Tell Me Who You Are, What's Left To Be Scared Of?, Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart and The Majestic Tale (Of A Madman In A Box).
  • Matt Smith has revealed some more details on The Doctor, The Witch And The Wardrobe: after Reg Arwell (Alexander Armstrong) is killed in action, "the Doctor tries to bring Christmas spirit and cheer back into the Arwell's lives. He has 'Doctorfied' the house so to speak and there's a magical present under the Christmas tree which is a portal to another world. Cyril enters it and discovers an enchanting landscape that encapsulates the beauty, danger and madness that is Doctor Who at Christmas. Speaking on the seventh season, Smith said "I think we'll be filming from February. It'll be a busy year. I've just heard the pitch from Steven Moffat. Amazing. Very exciting. I can't give anything away, though."
  • A big announcement this week was BBC Worldwide's revelation that Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, the first in a series of downloadable games for the PS3, PSVita and PC, will be released in Spring 2012. The game will follow the Doctor and River Song, featuring innovative 'time and consequence' gameplay as the time travellers race across many periods to save the Earth!
  • Better still, we've got the epic prequel to The Doctor, The Witch And The Wardrobe fresh from the official BBC website. We see the Doctor on a spaceship, ready to stop it attacking Earth but knowing that he will sacrifice himself to do so. The clip ends with the Time Lord resigning himself to his fate, as the ship explodes with him inside...to be continued on Christmas Day!
  • Finally, there's great news for fans of the classic era of Who- two previously lost episodes of the show have been found! These are the third episode of William Hartnell story Galaxy Four (1965) and the second of Patrick Troughton adventure The Underwater Menace (1967). DVD distributor 2Entertain are hoping to release the episodes in some format next year.
Next week, expect more details on the Christmas Special and the 2012 run of Who straight from the pages of DWM!
