E3 2011: The Final Bits Of Info

The biggest week in video gaming of the year is over- and despite being packed with announcements of development on already confirmed titles rather than brand new software, what was on offer gave a thrilling sneak peek and what's to come this year and next. Here are a few final pieces of news that slipped out in the final hours of the show:
  • The first trailer for Overstrike (below) is actually one of the funniest and most compelling previews for a first-person shooter in a good while!
  • Peter Molenyeux clarified after the surprisingly one-sided Fable: The Journey demo at the Microsoft conference that it's not an on-rails game but a fully fledged sequel with Kinect support.
  • Hoping for multiple new WiiU controllers to play with at home? Think again- there'll only be one controller per console, and you won't be able to buy new ones unless they're replacements. Still, you can use Wii remotes, and Nintendo are investigating if friends bring their controllers over, but one thing that's for sure is the console sure as hell won't be cheap, confirmed to be well over the £200 price point...
  • Forza Motorsport 4 will feature huge integration with the BBC's Top Gear, with Jeremy Clarkson describing each car to you as you examine it, the programme's test track one of the locations you race in and the Reasonably Priced Car up for grabs!
  • Another classic track has been announced for Sonic Generations, the promising anniversary present for everyone's Marmite-esque favourite blue hedgehog, and this time it's from the Dreamcast era: the City Escape zone first appeared in Sonic Adventure 2, but now you can play it in 2D as well as 3D!
  • Many games critics are calling The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim their game of show (and a fair few are saying Mass Effect 3 put up a huge fight!), so you can get my verdict on just how good the RPG is when it releases in November.
