Torchwood's fourth season is getting closer- Miracle Day is set to begin airing on July 8th in the US (and hopefully at the same time here), so it comes as no surprise that BBC Books have revealed the titles of their prequel novels releasing in July and August. First Born follows Gwen and Rhys Williams after the events of Children of Earth, taking refuge from pursuing military forces in a quiet Welsh town, Rawborne, only to find the children of this place hold a dangerous secret and may bring them closer to the aforementioned soldiers who want them out of the way. Meanwhile, in Long Time Dead, DCI Tom Cutler watches the excavation of the destroyed base of a legendary organisation called Torchwood, only to find one corpse missing from the wreckage- but when the government realise Suzie Costello is alive, one person is already dead... Finally there's The Men Who Sold The World, a near-direct prelude to the events that open Episode 1 of the new series, focusing on the CIA's Rex Matheson as he discovers a squad of troops gone rogue whilst transporting cargo marked 'Torchwood', and realises that the evasive Mr. Wynter may hold the secrets of the buried organisation and the first key to an oncoming Miracle. Sufficed to say that fans will want to pick these up as soon as they release, adding further depth to the mystery of Miracle Day while the series airs. First Born will be released on July 21st, Long Time Dead on August 4th and The Men Who Sold The World on August 18th; Miracle Day is expected to begin airing early next month.
