First Child Of Eden Reviews Are In

Out tomorrow, Child of Eden promises to be an inventive mixture of controller-based gameplay and the Kinect camera's motion controls, and until our review hits later this month we thought we'd let you know what the critics are saying about the new title. IGN and Gamespot both awarded it 8.5/10, the former's Kristine Steimer stating "it's rare for me to play a game and feel nothing but happiness, but that's what happened when I stepped in to save Eden" and that "this is a game everyone should experience" and the latter's Guy Cooker calling it "a bold artistic experience that is also accessible and fun", offering "bursts of pure joy". The Official Xbox Magazine was equally praising (8/10), liking its "slow-burning reluctant humour" and generally dubbing it "a stunning experience". However, one sore point amongst most reviewers was the game's lifespan, with the main campaign clocking in at just two or three hours and the only added replay value other than leaderbords being the identical Kinect campaign: "veterans could finish Child of Eden in a short time", says CVG's Tom Pakinis, describing the game as being "marred by a lack of content". Is the game still worth buying, though? The general consenus seems to be that you should either rent this or be prepared to replay levels simply for their beauty rather than a strong plot or setpiece, but you can catch my full review of Child of Eden for a definitive verdict very soon!
