2011 Most Anticipated Games #5: Kinect Star Wars

This is the only Kinect game to have made the Most Anticipated list- but with good reason. It's hard to tell how much work Microsoft have put into the majority of 'motion games' they release, with the likes of Kinect Sports and Dance Central impressing but others like MotionSports and DanceMasters bringing us back to reality and serving as a major reminder that not everyone is on board the Kinect bandwagon yet by a long shot. Kinect Star Wars, however, looks to boast a far greater reason to buy the camera- there's a full plotline that runs in parallel with the events of The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, encompassing iconic locations from all six films like Coruscant, Cloud City and Tatooine and featuring battles with deadly Sith opponents plus the chance to pilot podracers and space ships to reenact key moments from the saga. If all that weren't enough, then simply the chance to wield a lightsaber and the Force with your hands should be an exciting enough prospect alone to make this one to watch. We know very little about how the story will pan out, the quality of the graphics, the likelihood of motion lag or the two-player co-op so far, but that doesn't matter- if this doesn't turn out to be a Kinect seller by the dozen at Christmas, then I don't know what will! Honestly, despite being supposedly aimed at youngsters in the trailers, expect something very special when Kinect Star Wars debuts in game stores this Winter. Until then, may the Force be with you...
