Embankment Films reveal their latest adaptation project!
Embankment Films have this week announced that they have a new film adaptation of Sebastian Faulks' hit novel Birdsong currently in the works. Released in 1993 to mass acclaim, Faulks' greatest tale has become something of a legend in terms of World War Two literary works, so it's no surprise to see a new big screen version on the way. This incarnation follows in the wake of 2012's BBC1 TV drama adaptation of the book into a three-part series, which starred Les Miserables' Eddie Redmayne as its protagonist Stephen Wraysford. This time around, X-Men: First Class' Beast and Jack The Giant Slayer's Jack Nicholas Hoult will head up the cast, while the Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes director Rupert Wyatt has signed on to helm the direction of the project. We'll be looking forward to this one with great anticipation, even if BBC1's original take on the programme left a lot to be desired. Birdsong is set for release in British cinemas in 2014.
