Who News: Dalek Invasion Confirmed For Biopic

Mark Gatiss reports on an unearthly invasion taking place in London right now!
The official Doctor Who marketing team have today confirmed the exciting news that Mark Gatiss' 50th origins biopic An Adventure In Space And Time will incorporate the events of filming of much-loved classic era tale The Dalek Invasion Of Earth. Production on these replicated scenes took place today in London, helmed by writer Gatiss and director Terry McDonoughe.

The Dalek Invasion Of Earth originally aired in 1964 and starred William Hartnell as the Doctor, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, Jacqueline Hill as Barbara and William Russell as Ian. In the new 90-minute biopic drama, Mark Bradley portrays Hartnell, Jamie Glover as Russell, Claudia Grant as Ford and Jemma Poweel as Hill. Other headline stars for this one-off special include Call The Midwife's Jessica Raine and X-2: United's Brian Cox. That this story takes place in the show's production in '64 indicates that this exciting production will chronicle the entire production era of the First Doctor, with Gatiss having suggested that Hartnell's irritance at being 'replaced' rather than the show ending will form a part of the show.

You can check out the first report footage from the London filming below. An Adventure In Space And Time will broadcast on BBC2 this November as part of the BBC's Doctor Who 50th Anniversary blockbuster celebrations.
