Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Confirmed For DS

Fresh off the announcement that a Treyarch-developed version of the highly anticipated shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be hitting stores on Nintendo Wii this year, Activision's social media manager Dan Amrich has confirmed that the video game will release on the Nintendo DS in 2011 as well. The handheld version of MW3 will be developed by n-Space, who have previously helmed the portable Modern Warfare: Mobilised, World at War and Black Ops projects, as well as James Bond DS titles Blood Stone and GoldenEye 007. No details have been revealed as to how the campaign, set in a fictional World War Three timeline, will be translated onto the dual-screen console, or indeed the extent of the new online multiplayer modes, but it's at least a sign that some faith is still being placed in Nintendo's previous handheld rather than a full conversion to the 3DS. Modern Warfare 3 will arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC on November 8th, and then the Wii and DS later this year.
