When Can You Expect More WiiU Details?
What with the announcements of new video games like Borderlands 2 and Cut The Rope: Experiments earlier today, you might expect that having revealed the WiiU at E3 Nintendo might have wanted to shed a few more details sometime about now, but sadly that's not the case, and we're not going to be hearing more on the console for a while. "Since the WiiU we showed you at the E3 show in June was still in the development phase without very specific software details," says Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, "we are going to announce the release date and price details [for the console] next year when we are able to explain the specific proposals." It's a shame to hear that nothing more on the intriguing new hardware will be revealed until 2012, but what with new releases for both the Wii and 3DS (The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Super Mario 3D Land being at the forefront of our anticipation) throughout the remainder of 2011, I can equally see why Nintendo don't want to draw our focus into the future- especially with the 3DS underperforming so drastically that after just half a year the company are dropping its price by an entire third! With any luck, at the same time as we get details on a release date and price (I'd hope we'll find out it's a £200-250 RRP, as that's about standard for a new console), there should also be confirmation on just what the UK launch line-up will entail. Let's just hope Nintendo learnt their lesson and give us more than remakes of Nintendogs and Pilotwings...The WiiU is slated for release in the 2012/13 fiscal year, beginning May 2012.
