The synopsis for the much-anticipated upcoming superhero film Man of Steel has been released to the public, giving us a strong indication of what tone and direction the Superman reboot will take. It reads: "Clark Kent is a young journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question- 'Why am I here?'. Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark discovers that having super powers means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately be used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as 'Superman', not only to shine as the world's last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves." This initial tease sounds a bit simplistic, if I'm being honest, but with any luck the final movie itself will be a worthy new entry in the franchise, unlike some instalments I could mention (*cough*Superman Returns*cough*). Man of Steel is out June 4th, 2013.
