Gamescom Announcement Round-Up

The Gamescom convention in Germany is considered to be Europe's equivalent to the Electronic Entertainment Expo, so it's no surprise that this year's event has seen a number of exciting new video games announced on the showfloor. Here's a round-up of all that's been confirmed as coming our way next year...
  • EA revealed a new FIFA Street is in the works- the popular franchise began on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, and eventually moved to next gen consoles- for Xbox 360 and PS3, with a portable version for 3DS and the PlayStation Vita rumoured to also be in the works.
  • A sequel to the decent 2009 sports title Grand Slam Tennis is on its way in 2012. No details have been released yet as to what the game's new features might entail, but I'd wager Kinect/Move compatability is a given and perhaps intergration with the Wimbledon tournament.
  • Finally, Nintendo revealed that they will be releasing a new version of their Wii console this Christmas. Though it lacks the GameCube compatability found in the original model, the sleeker designed hardware will come packaged with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Party as part of a festive bundle sure to entice the remaining few who don't already own it!
