New Sarah Jane Adventures Series 5 Details

The tragic passing of Elisabeth Sladen earlier this year has meant that the excellent Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures terminated production halfway through the recording of its fifth run of episodes. Despite this, the cast and crew had already managed to record three of the six two-part stories, and these final six episodes, each half-an-hour in length, will be broadcast on BBC One as a tribute to Sladen this Autumn. Actress Anji Mohandra, who plays wannabe journalist Rani Chandra in Sky, The Curse of Clyde Langer and The Man Who Wasn't There, has revealed some new details on the upcoming stories at the Manchester MCM/Comic Con Expo:
  • A new regular character will be introduced- this addition to the Bannerman Road gang would have formed a constant part of Sarah-Jane's team throughout the fifth season...
  • ...But someone is not who you think they are! I have no idea what the three stories actually entail, however if my speculative instincts were to kick in, I'd say that since SJA has been so unwilling to deviate from its strong central cast in its past three seasons, it's highly possible that the new member of the gang is not all they seem, and that they might turn out to be a baddie. The Man Who Wasn't There was apparently set to be the season finale, so it's likely to be here that we discover the truth- boy, if it's someone who has appeared since Series 1 or 2, then we're in for a great shock!
  • Something extremely terrible happens to Clyde. Whether it could involve his mum or dad, who have both been involved in alien adventures in the past, remains to be seen, but I'd wager we'll find out just what this event is in the aptly-named The Curse of Clyde Langer...
The Sarah Jane Adventures returns for its final run this October.
