Coming Up This Week

It's great to be back with the blog, and as you should already have seen I'm introducing new regular features like the weekly music charts, and there's more to come over the next few weeks. For now, though, here's all you can expect from us and the world of entertainment in the next seven days:
NEW GAMES- Finally, the summer video games drought seems to be at an end, with the arrival of huge RPG shooter Deus Ex: Human Revolution in stores worldwide this Friday. You play as Adam Jenson, a biologically-augmented super soldier of sorts who can carve his way through the 30-hour campaign in any way you choose, should it be stealth, conversation or all-out shooting action. It looks really promising, so I'll be bringing you my impressions soon after release and the full review early next week!
NEW FILMS- As the Summer of Film begins to reach its conclusion, there isn't much new on the horizon this week. Still, why not go and see Rise of the Planet of the Apes and/or Cowboys & Aliens while they're out? I know I will be! Expect verdicts on both of those exciting new romps by next week.
NEW SHOWS- The thrilling story of Torchwood: Miracle Day continue on Thursday in the seventh instalment, Immortal Sins, while Clark faces a blast from the past in Smallville: Collateral and the BBC Proms continue each night. Plus, there's one other programme you should look out for...
DOCTOR WHO- Yes, the Doctor is returning this coming Saturday on BBC One at 19.10pm for the first episode of a new series. In Let's Kill Hitler, everyone's favourite Time Lord is on a desperate search for Melody Pond, but when he crashlands in 1930s Berlin and comes face to face with the universe's greatest war criminal (and Hitler), our hero must learn the harshest lesson of warfare and face the ultimate betrayal. Expect revelations, questions and River Song aplenty, along with the foreboding knowledge that for the Doctor, "Time is running out..."
