We're now back with you in full force here at On-Screen, and now that E3 has been and gone the blog's focus is moving away from video gaming and onto other entertainment mediums and formats including films, novels, television and music. That all kicks off this week with the release of Rock Of Ages, signalling our Rock Week here at the blog with all kinds of great new features and reviews to look forward to. Here's what the world of entertainment has to offer in the next seven days...
AT THE MOVIES- Other than the obvious biggie hitting the big screen this week, there's also a clearly Olympics-themed movie to look forward to with the release of Fast Girls. It'll be interesting to see how this one does off the back on the British sports passion right now!
ON THE SHELVES- One of this year's best movies is hitting DVD and Blu-Ray retailers everywhere tomorrow as The Muppets finally arrives on the shelves. On top of that, bio-drama J Edgar and Denzel Washington thriller Safe House are out tomorrow as well, all of which providing great cinematic experiences.
GAME ON- The reprecussions of E3 will still be felt here on the blog, but in terms of actual game releases this week comes up a bit short. You can at least pick up Namco Bandai's gravity-based shooter Inversion in stores, yet that hasn't exactly been reaching critical acclaim, so approach with caution!
SWITCH ON THE TELLY- Blimey, TV offerings haven't been great recently, have they? I'd love to tell you that's all about to change, but honestly I'd say Tuesday's new The Ricky Gervais Show is about your only port of call. Dull times, eh?
ROCK OF AGES- We are at least getting a fab new musical movie starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand and a host of other Hollywood stars in what promises to be one of the most feel-good cinema viewings of 2012. I loved the West End original version of Rock Of Ages, so can't wait to see how this film adaptation turns out!
CARNEGIE WINNER REVEALED- The Kate CLIP Carnegie & Greenaway Awards have been raging on for the past eight weeks or so, and it's now time to find out which books have won. I'll be providing my verdict on the eight shortlisted Carnegie novels before the winner is confirmed this Thursday!
ON THE BLOG- Although we'll be 'sweeping up' the E3 reveals that have come in the expo's final days (I'll reveal my Top 15 Games Of The Show and my overall verdict on E3 2012), from there it really is onto pastures new for On-Screen. We'll be bringing you all the latest on the Venom reboot, Doctor Who Series Seven, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Knight Rises, An Idiot Abroad: The Short Way Round, 2013's Entertainment Offerings and so much more in days to come, so for your entertainment fix there's nowhere else you should be heading! Expect the definitive verdict on Rock Of Ages too before week's end...
AND NEXT WEEK...LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes and Steel Batallion: Heavy Armour retail, finally marking big new video game releases, plus the Spider-Man reboot nears ever closer and so too does Dark Knight Rises!
