Find out the best music and TV releases of 2012's second quarter!
BEST SINGLE: SING (COMMONWEALTH VERSION)
In the closing days of June, Gary Barlow unveiled his special Diamond Jubilee-celebration song, Sing, featuring dozens of voices from African communities aided by charity and indeed the beautiful tones of the Military Wives. It's an uplifting piece that positively bookends what has been a quiet few months for the music industry, with little more than a few rehashed-esque Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj tracks to keep us busy. I'm looking forward to things seemingly picking up in months to come!
BEST TV SERIES & TV EPISODE: HOUSE & HOUSE: EVERYBODY DIES
Usually, I'll do a 'Top 5 Best TV Episodes' feature for this award, but as per usual the early Summer months have been rather uneventful for the world of television. As such, the relatively strong series finale to House, Everybody Dies, gets the honor of this award for giving the show perhaps its perfect conclusion despite the lack of Cuddy back to help Greg out in what appeared to be his final day of freedom. It was most certainly a great swan song for the medical drama, and if anything I'd rather not ever see it return just so that I can leave it with the neat lasting image of the great, uplifting final shots of the programme. Congratulations to the show's writers and producers for sustaining House for eight seasons- a truly momentous achievement, and due in no small part to the phenomenal talents of Hugh Laurie himself.
