In a few days, the huge Hollywood rock ensemble movie Rock Of Ages will burst into cinemas. As an opening instalment to our suitably themed 'Rock Week', I've compiled a list of my personal Top 10 favourite rock anthems that are out there for you to listen to right now...
10. WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE (Bon Jovi)- One of several Bon Jovi hits on the list, and about to be adapted into a musical extravaganza this Friday by Tom Cruise himself!
9. IT'S MY LIFE (Bon Jovi)- Glee did a great rendition of this in its opening season, but nothing can quite top Bon Jovi's original best-seller's power and sheer raw rock greatness.
8. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT LOVE IS (Foreigner)- Another song you'll hear in the movie. Foreigner's I Want To Know What Love Is is both moving and empowering, a great rock song if ever there was one.
7. BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY (Queen)- Definitely a true rock classic, Queen's Rhapsody won't soon be forgotten for its quirkiness and innovation, and very rightly so.
6. AUDIENCE OF ONE (Rise Against)/CLOSER TO THE EDGE (30 Seconds To Mars)- These two are tracks not many of you will have heard of. They're in joint sixth place as they're both modern superhits that hugely deserve your attention.
5. I DON'T WANNA MISS A THING (Aerosmith)- Aerosmith kickstarted the soundtrack of Armageddon a few years back with this stunning track. If you've never heard it, it's well worth a listen.
4. BAT OUT OF HELL (Meatloaf)- One of two sublime pieces of music by Meatloaf featuring on the list, Bat Out Of Hell is an incredible rock classic that will be one for the ages.
3. WHO WANTS TO LIVE FOREVER (Queen)- These final three songs narrowly fought it out for the top place, so there's no real need to explain how strong this classic is.
2. WALK (Foo Fighters)- A far more modern piece, Walk accompanied Thor and boasted all the great vigour and energy of the superhero movie from the legendary Foo Fighters.
1. I'D DO ANYTHING FOR LOVE (Meatloaf)- But at the top of the list could only be Meatloaf's tear-jerking twelve minute epic of a piece. Undoubtedly his best week, and indeed one of (if not the) the greatest rock tracks of all time. Check it out below to remind yourself why...
