A great surprise hit, Rock Of Ages rocks the house out this month!
Although June wasn't exactly packed with full-blown 5/5 releases (there were no releases which I awarded that to or indeed games that earned the subsequent 10/10 rating), there were a great deal of near-equally fantastic sleeper hits that swept the rug from under my feet to prove a neat surprise. At the forefront of this was Rock Of Ages, a sublime throwback to both 1970s and 80s rock and indeed the classic musical movie. Although the plot was undeniably shallow, it was all such great fun and the tracklist so brilliantly selected that I couldn't help but be blown away by the bravado and confidence of the entire piece. Reviews have been mixed so far, but personally I loved it, and I reckon any rock fans out there who haven't given it a try really should do so before it leaves cinemas for good. For those reasons and so many more, Rock Of Ages wins the much-deserved title of June 2012's Best Release.
