An adaptation of Smiley's People could be closer than you think!
Last year, StudioCanal Films scored an unexpected hit with the detective thriller movie Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. An adaptation of John LeCarre's famed novel, the espionage flick was manned by British greats including Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Hurt and Colin Firth, and did a sublime job of bringing a slower, more intricate layer of intrigue to the entertainment industry and indeed to the realm of cinema. It's now been confirmed that work is already well underway on a follow-up to the hit flick. Smiley's People was LeCarre's sequel to the original text, so it seems natural that this will be the next entry up for adaptation. Casting deals will no doubt be secured once the project has gained full momentum. Smiley's People will likely get a 2014 release in British cinemas everywhere.
