The Doctor calls for his 50th birthday in London this November!
Slowly but surely, we're hearing more and more about what the BBC have planned for Doctor Who's groundbreaking 50th Anniversary. Already, we've got a season of blockbuster anniversary episodes in the Spring, a 50th Anniversary movie adventure in November, the Christmas Special, An Adventure In Space And Time, a Culture Show BBC2 50 Year documentary, anniversary novels and eBooks, stunning DVD animations, a celebratory DWM comic strip and Big Finish multi-Doctor adventure and so many other big surprises confirmed for the months ahead.
What's proved a truly exciting prospect, though, is today's official announcement by BBC Worldwide of Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend. A three-day event to be held later this year, Celebration will take place in the London exCEL Centre and feature renowned guest stars, episode screenings (the 50th Special presumably featuring) and tonnes more unrevealed items of interest that will form the ultimate convention yet for the series' fans. With this and so many other major elements of celebration set to mark the show's 50th birthday in the coming months, we can't fail to be hugely anticipatory of just what Steven Moffat has in store in the main adventure itself...
Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend will take place on November 22nd-24th at London exCEL Centre, Victoria Port. Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on Easter Saturday, March 30th.
