Who News: Team Tease New Season, 50th & More

4-hide-series-7-posterDoctor Who is back in twelve days- we've got even more from the production team on what to expect!
The BBC have today revealed a whole host of new details on the new 50th Anniversary season of Doctor Who. We've got synopses for the first four episodes of Series Seven Part Two, plus a whole host of exciting teasers on this blockbuster season, the 50th Anniversary Special and lots more from the production team. First up, let's see the synopses for the first half of this new anniversary season, to discover what lies in store for the Doctor and Clara...

  • 'THE BELLS OF SAINT JOHN' SYNOPSIS- The Doctor's search for Clara Oswald brings him to modern day London, where Wi-Fi is everywhere. Humanity lives in a Wi-Fi soup. But something dangerous is lurking in the signals, picking off minds and imprisoning them. As Clara becomes the target of this insidious menace, the Doctor races to save her and the world from an ancient enemy.
  • 'THE RINGS OF AKHATEN' SYNOPSIS- Clara wants to see something awesome, so the Doctor whisks her off to the inhabited rings of the planet Akhaten, where the Festival of Offerings is in full swing. Clara meets the young Queen of Years as the pilgrims and natives ready for the ceremony. But something is stirring in the pyramid, and a sacrifice will be demanded.
  • 'COLD WAR' SYNOPSIS- The Doctor and Clara land on a damaged Russian submarine in 1983 as it spirals out of control into the ocean depths. An alien creature is loose on board, having escaped from a block of Arctic ice. With tempers flaring and a cargo of nuclear weapons on board, it's not just the crew but the whole of humanity at stake!
  • 'HIDE' SYNOPSIS- Clara and the Doctor arrive at Caliburn House, a haunted mansion sat alone on a desolate moor. Within its walls, a ghost hunting Professor and a gifted psychic are searching for the Witch of the Well. Her apparition appears throughout the history of the building, but is she really a ghost? And what is chasing her?
They're an exciting bunch of plot briefs to be sure, and what's perhaps even more reassuring still is a host of exhilarating comments from the production team including the lead stars and the Moff himself...
  • MOFFAT ON BELLS- "The Doctor can never be Bond or Bourne- but if he tried it might look a bit like this!"
  • JENNA-LOUISE ON CLARA- "She is oblivious. She is meeting the Doctor as he turns up on her doorstep as a monk for the first time. There's nothing the Doctor hates more than an unsolved mystery- and that's what she is. So you can really see it arcing over the next episodes."
  • MOFFAT ON JOURNEY- "You will go to the heart of the TARDIS. There's way more than a swimming pool. You will see more of the TARDIS more properly than you've ever seen it before."
  • MATT ON MOFFAT'S FINALE- "I think we might have one of those clever Moffat creations, one of those new classic monsters. And they've got a great name and they are so brilliant!"
  • MATT ON THE 50TH- "You won't be disappointed. I read it and clapped at the end. I think it's hilarious and it's epic and it's vast. This script, it delives on all those points that you want it to for where the show is at this time. It's brilliant. It somehow manages to pay homage to everything in the past and look forward. And I think that's the mark, the genius of it!"
  • JENNA-LOUISE ON THE FINALE AND THE 50TH SPECIAL- "Reading especially the finale of this season, without giving too much away, it really is epic and I think it's really a treat for the fans of the last 50 years!"
Doctor Who returns to BBC1 on Easter Saturday, March 30th. The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special will air on Saturday November 23rd as part of a year of anniversary celebrations, broadcasting on BBC1 HD, BBC 3D and in cinemas worldwide.
