Bilbo Baggins' final journey will hit cinemas a little later than expected...
Something was always going to have to budge. Anyone who's been keeping an eye on the 2014 Summer Of Film release schedule will know that it's pretty jam-packed with clashes and conflicts, not least of which until up to today was that The Hobbit: There And Back Again and X-Men: Days Of Future Past were set for release on the same date, July 18th, 2014. Now, it seems that the Hobbit trilogy will draw in line with the Lord Of The Rings films with three successive Christmas hits.
On top of that, next Summer is already tightly packed with other massive movie releases including Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Ninja Turtles, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Transformers 4, How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Guardians Of The Galaxy for starters, so it was inevitable that Peter Jackson's third instalment in his Hobbit film trilogy was going to have to suffer a delay. Nevertheless, this should remain one of film fans' most anticipated movies of 2014, especially with the Battle Of Five Armies in the aftermath of Smaug's demise forming the motion picture finale's centrepiece and indeed reincorporating classic Lord Of The Rings characters such as Orlando Bloom's Legolas.
The Hobbit: There And Back Again will now journey into cinemas worldwide on December 17th, 2014. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is set for release on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 8th, with the second film The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug hitting cinemas on December 13th.
