First Deathly Hallows Part 2 Game Review Arrives

So, this is it: on Friday, the final ever Harry Potter movie tie-in game will release on all consoles, the conclusion to an era filled with oft-forgettable highs and lows. But, the question is, has Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 been worth the wait after the atrocity that was Part 1...? It looks like the answer is a definitive 'no', if GameSpot's first review of the third-person shooter is anything to go by. The site's Kevin VanOrd gave the new video game just 4/10, calling it a "short, tedious, and conceptually vapid cover shooter". VanOrd says the three and a half hour running time is "mercifully short for a game that sells too high at a $50 price", stating "the features that gave the previous game replay value- Kinect support and co-op challenges [both of which have been removed]- have been wiped away, making this the last of the Potter games the worst value of them all". Reflecting on the game adaptation franchise as a whole, he notes: "After you finish, you're treated to a montage of gameplay moments from the prior games, which serve not to inspire fond memories, but only to remind you just how much potential was squandered in a series of games that never lived up to their inspirations." Sadly, going on the previous seven titles I'd have to agree with VanOrd that on a whole the Potter games have been nothing but wasted opportunities for Warner Brothers and EA, but moreso for the fanbase as a whole. I'll still bring you reviews of this, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Green Lantern and Captain America: Super Soldier in the near future, but judging by this first review you should reserve your cash for the huge Autumn line up of games- believe me, you'll need it! The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 game is out this Friday.
