WORLD EXCLUSIVE: LEGO Harry Potter Years 5-7 Impressions
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 (9/10) was an unexpected hit in my books, and I'm glad to say from what I saw of sequel Years 5-7 at the London Film Museum today we're in for much of the same here, albeit with a few more magical powers and gimmicks. The level I saw involved Harry and Hermionie exploring the graveyard containing the latter's parents' corpses before being taken into the house of the woman Voldemort's snake Nagini is posing as (Deathly Hallows). Typically for the LEGO franchise, the snowy setting of the graveyard was put to comedic use, with a hot hair-dryer being used to melt some of the ice surrounding useful objects and characters able to make ice creams to replenish their health. These sort of little things strangely add a lot to the overall experience, as ever making it a simply fun time to have alone or with friends. Once again, the visuals are crisp and beautiful to behold even when you're not doing anything, and the soundtrack manages to capture some of the darker tones found in later Potter films. I don't think I need to say much more on Years 5-7 right now- put simply, if you enjoyed Years 1-4 then this will feel like a natural progression, and as long as Travellers' Tales manage to innovate in all three movie chapters (boy, I'll commend them for doing so with Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince) this should easily be one of the best 'kids games' of 2011! (But fans, you know you want to play it really...)
