Prothemeus Synopsis Revealed

Prothemeus, Ridley Scott's refocused Alien prequel, is just under a year away from hitting cinemas, so in light of this distributor 20th Century Fox have revealed the plot synopsis for the upcoming film. It reads: "Visionary director Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery." So no mention yet of Scott's famed extraterresterial monsters, but considering the director has so far called this a spin-off romp in the Alien universe rather than a fully-blown new entry in the series, perhaps that's not too much of a surprise and we'll be hearing more of the antagonists in the background and/or dialogue references than we will be seeing them. Whatever the reasoning behind their ommision from the synopsis, all will be revealed when Prothemeus hits on June 8th, 2012!
