EA Summer Showcase Announcements

Electronic Arts bring us new news reveals on top of their WiiU announcements at their Summer Showcase...
EA made it very clear in their Summer Showcase earlier this week that they're going to be a force to be reckoned with in months to come. The conference saw a few announcements regarding the Nintendo WiiU, including the revelations that Mass Effect 3, FIFA 13 and Madden NFL 13 were launch titles for the console, but that wasn't all by a long shot. Despite the fact that Medal Of Honor: Warfighter, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3 and Commander & Conquer: Generals 2 are all already confirmed for release in the next twelve months, the publisher had even more to show. Here's a roundup of the major announcements of the Summer Showcase:

  • MASS EFFECT 3 RETURNS: As well as the revelation that BioWare's third Mass Effect game is coming to WiiU, Electronic Arts debuted a new DLC expansion for the sci-fi finale at their showcase. Titled Leviathan, the new single-player campaign pack focuses on Shepherd's investigation into the origins of the Reaper and the Commander's attempts to use a rogue Reaper in the war to Take Earth Back. Perhaps it'll have a new effect on the ending, perhaps not...either way, it's the only new Mass Effect offering fans are likely to get at least until the early months of the next-generation of consoles late next year. Mass Effect 3: Leviathan launches later this month.
  • ARMY OF TWO REBOOTS: EA were also ready to add another game to their 2013 line-up. They've confirmed that Visceral Games are working on a reboot of the Army Of Two franchise, called The Devil's Cartel and featuring all new gameplay mechanics never seen before in the popular series. Whether this can be anything other than another identikit third-person modern warfare shooter remains to be seen, but we here at On-Screen like to stay optimistic! There'll be two more game reveals from EA at Gamescom (one of them likely Battlefield 4), so stay tuned for those later this month. Army Of Two: The Devil's Cartel launches on Xbox 360 and PS3 in March 2013.
Electronic Arts will have more announcements of future game releases to come later in August.
