Who News: Series Seven DVDs Announced

The DVD and Blu-Ray releases for Who's next run revealed...
There's just over two weeks now until Doctor Who looks set to return to television screens everywhere. Perhaps just to increase the excitement of fans, online retailers have begun releasing details of the DVD and Blu-Ray releases we can expect to see for the new season. Here's the current set of release schedules for each of the various sets and standalone packs...
SERIES SEVEN PART ONE- NOVEMBER 12TH
SERIES SEVEN CHRISTMAS SPECIAL- EARLY 2013
SERIES SEVEN PART TWO- SPRING 2013
THE COMPLETE SEVENTH SERIES- SUMMER 2013
So, let's take a look at the implications of those four release windows. That Series Seven Part One arrives in stores for DVD and Blu-Ray on November 12th means that the first five episodes will have definitely aired by the end of October, although to be honest that seemed a given with the heavy rumours of an August 25th airdate for Asylum Of The Daleks. When I refer to the 'Series Seven Christmas Special', I am of course talking about the introductory episode for Jenna-Louise Coleman's new companion character Clara- who we're meeting this Christmas Day- rather than The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe, although that's likely to feature in the later 'Complete' fifteen-episode boxset.

Moving on, Series Seven Part Two is scheduled for a Spring 2013 release, which makes it seem likely that we'll see the final eight episodes of the season air in the very first months of 2013, possibly following straight on from December 25th. If this is the case, the Christmas Special will be included on the Part Two set rather than a standalone release, but we'll wait and see. Finally, there's The Complete Seventh Series, which will no doubt come with loads of exciting extras to keep us sated until the series returns for more anniversary special episodes later in the year. For now, though, Doctor Who returns on August 25th.
