Is this the name of the man who'll bring us DC's biggest film?
Just a few months back now, DC Entertainment clearly cottoned onto the success of Avengers Assemble, announcing their own superhero team-up movie in the form of an adaptation of the Justice League iconic comic-book saga. Since then, though, we've heard little more of the project, and speculation has been rife on whether finished or unsuccessful movie properties like Batman and Green Lantern will have to be rebooted in order for their characters to gain weight in the ensemble. Nevertheless, with the revelation that Joss Whedon is back for Avengers 2 yesterday, DC seem to be kicking their project into high gear. The proof of this? A director for their new big movie has been reported as being in heavy discussions across the press-o-sphere: Ben Affleck. Affleck is famed for directing hit movies such as The Town, Gone Baby Gone and the upcoming Argo, so he's got a strong proportion of filmic experience under his best that may make him the perfect man for the job, Don't be surprised if Zack Snyder also remains in talks, though, especially if his Man Of Steel Superman reboot meets acclaim and financial success next year. Expect more details on the film, its characters, its narrative and indeed its production team in the coming weeks. Justice League is set for a 2015 release (against Avengers 2, wouldn't you know).
