The Aliens Return For A Second Prequel Instalment...
Those of you who were reading the blog back in May might recall that I didn't think as much of Prometheus as I might have hoped, only awarding it a decent yet disappointing 3/5 score. Well, it turns out my own apprehension at the sci-fi spectacle and indeed the mixed critical reviews didn't stop the Alien prequel amassing a fair amount of cash in cinemas, and so perhaps the next move taken was inevitable. 20th Century Fox have today confirmed that a follow-up to Ridley Scott's latest epic will be released in the near future, reprising the universe and narrative of the first film and once again starring Naomi Rapace as Elisabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender as cyborg David. It'll be great to see these two legendary stars sharing the screen once again, though I can only hope their talents are put to better use with a more worthwhile storyline this time around. Perhaps it'll just be an Aliens rip-off, seeing as Ridley essentially put a spin on his 1979 classic with this year's instalment. Cynicism aside, we know that Prometheus 2 will land in cinemas everywhere in late 2014.
