The final adventures begin this Summer!
Well, it's been a long time coming, but the moment is here- Derek Landy has announced that his new book Skulduggery Pleasant: Kingdom Of The Wicked will release this Summer, heralding the beginning of the end for the teen fiction fantasy series as the opening instalment of its final trilogy. Taking place just weeks after the earth-shattering climax of Death Bringer, the novel will take private detective Skulduggery Pleasant and his human accomplice Valkyrie Cain to their darkest battles yet, as the threat of Darquesse grows stronger and all around them forces of war begin to rally for the apocalypse. "Magic is a disease," say publishers HarperCollins in their press release, "Across the land, normal people are suddenly developing wild and unstable powers. Their only hope lies with the Sanctuary- Skulduggery and Valkyrie are needed more than ever. And then there's the small matter of Kitana. A normal teenage girl who, along with her normal teenage friends, becomes infected. Becomes powerful. Becomes corrupted. Wielding the magic of gods, they're set to tear the city apart unless someone stands up against them. Looks like it's going to be another one of those days..." I wouldn't go expecting a resolution to the Death-Bringer arc proper until the last book of the series (set for release in 2014), but for now get ready for laughs and thrills galore in what is sure to be another brilliant fantasy romp from Landy. Skulduggery Pleasant: Kingdom Of The Wicked retails on bookshelves everywhere on August 30th.
