Doctor Who goes FPS in this underwhelming final mini-episode teasing the 50th.
BBC Worldwide have today released a Doctor Who mini-episode ahead of the broadcast of the show's 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor. Titled The Last Day, the short (below) does not feature any member of the central cast of the upcoming blockbuster adventure, yet it does set up the premise and background of the War Doctor's battles by depicting the opening moments of the Fall of Arcadia on Gallifrey (fans may recall the Tenth Doctor's referencing of this conflict in Doomsday).
If it seems as if there's a new Doctor Who post here at On-Screen every day right now, it's simply because the BBC have gone to such great lengths this month to promote their landmark televisual event. In three days' time, the floodgates will open and the 76-minute blockbuster will air on BBC One, in cinemas and across the world on international TV networks simultaneously. Steven Moffat's second prequel remains an enigmatic teaser for what's to come, only going so far as to confirm that the conflict from which John Hurt's Doctor derives is that which many of us had speculated.
Doctor Who: The Last Day is available now on the iTunes Store for download onto iOS devices.
