BBC One's most successful detective drama returns in the New Year!
The BBC have today announced the UK airdates for their upcoming third season of Sherlock. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, the detective drama has become a cult hit with its vast fanbase, Series Two having earned a strong average rating of 10 million viewers.
Those followers disappointed by the absence of The Empty Hearse on Christmas Day should for now take note of the regular returnees already scheduled to air on December 25th. Doctor Who, Strictly Come Dancing, Call the Midwife and Eastenders now make up the annual festive primetime line-up for BBC One, and with its whopping 90-minute running time, the first episode of Sherlock's latest run simply had nowhere to go this Christmas. On the bright side, UK viewers will have the opportunity to see all three episodes of the third run before BBC America have even broadcast Episode 1!
Sherlock returns to BBC One with The Empty Hearse on New Year's Day 2014, with The Sign of Three on January 5th and with His Last Vow on January 12th.
