December kicks off with a web-slinging bang courtesy of Marc Webb.Sony Pictures have today announced the release of a teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 online. The sequel to 2012's underrated superhero reboot The Amazing Spider-Man, the second instalment in the revived franchise pits the Webbed Wonder against Sinister Six foes Electro and Rhino.
It's difficult to shake the sense that this marketing strategy comes directly in the wake of the immense levels of speculation surrounding Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy. The chance still remains for this ambitious sequel to top the latter, but besting the much-anticipated former pair of follow-ups could be all the more of a challenge next Summer. Next week's trailer should hold the first hints as to Spidey's chances in the intense Summer of Film 2014 season...
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will swing into cinemas worldwide on May 2nd, 2014, with the teaser trailer set to launch online on December 5th.
