BBC Worldwide have today released The Night of the Doctor (below), a Doctor Who mini-episode which acts as a prologue to the show's upcoming 50th Anniversary Special. Starring John Hurt, the video reveals the initial strands of the shady history behind his 'lost' Doctor, and just what identity the Time Lord may have adopted during his darkest hour.
As if it didn't go without saying, Night is an essential viewing for any self-respecting Whovian. Writer Steven Moffat has packed the short's 7 minutes with plenty of surprises, callbacks and hints as to what viewers can expect from the 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor, in nine days' time. The only problem? Nine days has never seemed like such a long period to wait in anticipation. Check back here tomorrow night for a fresh new clip from Children In Need's 2013 live show.
Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor broadcasts on BBC One, international networks and in cinemas worldwide this Saturday November 23rd at 7.50pm.
