WaterTower Music and Decca Records have today released one of the tracks on their soundtrack for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Hitting retailers a few days before the film's release, the album will mainly consist of instrumental tracks ported directly from Desolation itself, including The Quest for Erebor, Smaug and Beyond the Forest.
The one exception to the rule? Ed Sheeran's I See Fire, which will play in the film's credits and is an original composition. I See Fire's music video can be seen below, and from what we've seen of the movie's trailers so far, it definitely fits in seamlessly with the overall darker tone of the piece. Here's hoping that the production team manage to match the impressive quality of this musical accompaniment with their visual efforts come Desolation's December launch.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug- Original Motion Picture Soundtrack will retail on CD and digital devices this November 10th.
