Captain America 3 Release Date Announced

We can now add another hero to Batman and Superman's Vs. match- the Cap himself...
The Hollywood Reporter have today confirmed the global release date for the recently-announced third instalment in Marvel Studios' Captain America superhero film franchise. Taking place after the events of this month's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the threequel will again star Chris Evans as the titular All-American Avenger (and in light of Sebastian Stan's confirmation today that he's still contracted for seven more films in the role of the Winter Soldier, expect to see Bucky's covert alter-ego return as well).

Release date boffins among you may well have come to the realisation that by placing itself on the particular date in 2016 which you'll see below, Captain America 3 is going directly head-to-head with Batman Vs. Superman. As if that particular clash of the titans weren't enough to startle and excite us, May 2016 will also play host to big-screen behemoths like X-Men: Apocalypse (which, according to director Bryan Singer, will feature "more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon", "take place in the '80s" and "introduce familiar characters in a younger time") and Alice In Wonderland: Through The Looking Glass, both of which are sure to provide hefty competition for the two major superhero instalments. Add The Amazing Spider-Man 3, How To Train Your Dragon 3, Finding Dory, Angry Birds, Thor 3 (or Doctor Strange), Independence Day 2, Tarzan and Planet of the Apes 3 to the fray, and we're all but guaranteed another Summer of Film for the ages in two years' time.

Captain America 3 mobilizes in cinemas worldwide on May 6th, 2016.
