Another One Bites The Dust- the hit West End musical closes its doors this Spring.
The Dominion Theatre have this week announced that the West End stage show We Will Rock You will bring its decade-spanning run in the UK venue to a close next month. Penned by Ben Elton, the production premièred to the world back in 2002, bringing with it a whole host of classic Queen songs including Under Pressure, Who Wants To Live Forever and (naturally) Bohemian Rhapsody and a charming British dystopian narrative to boot.
Suffice to say that if you haven't experienced this superb musical for yourself as of yet and you would go so far as to call yourself a dedicated follower of the band in question, then the best piece of advice that we can offer at this stage is that you open a new window on your internet browser and book a ticket for one of its final performances immediately. While it may lack the classical grandeur of The Phantom of the Opera or the sheer aesthetic audacity of The Lion King and Wicked, this is a production that nevertheless excels in every department, and this writer isn't ashamed to admit that his scepticism regarding Queen and their back-catalogue was instantly dissolved during his first viewing a few years back. Although it'll be departing the West End later this year, expect to hear news of UK tours from up-and-coming dramatic companies in the not too distant future...
We Will Rock You will conclude its Dominion Theatre run this May 31st.
