Sony Pictures have today released the final theatrical trailer (below) for their imminent superhero film The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Directed by Marc Webb, this second instalment of the rebooted blockbuster franchise sees Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone reprise their roles as the titular web-slinger and his his damsel-in-distress Gwen Stacey, as well as introducing Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan and Paul Giamatti into the fray as Electro, the Green Goblin and Rhino respectively.
As you'll no doubt hear across the internet this evening, any fan who's been paying attention to Sony's marketing campaign so far will probably be somewhat alarmed at just how much of the sequel the studio have been willing to showcase over the course of their various promotional previews. While we're all for the idea of trailers demonstrating some of a motion picture's finest setpiece moments, at this point it seems as if the promotional team would be well advised to lay off the new footage and simply focus on generating enough hype based on what they've already shown to ensure a successful launch in a month or so's time. Secrets may well have a cost (or so we've heard repeatedly from Sally Field's Aunt May), but in this case, it's difficult not to put the argument out there that being too open with audiences in the months preceding a blockbuster's release can have its fair share of detrimental effects too.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 powers up in UK cinemas nationwide this April 18th.
