Q4 2012: Top 5 Most Anticipated TV Shows

The five series you'll want to keep your eye on right here...
There's always tonnes of great television on in the final few months of each year, and Q4 2012 is no different in this respect. Between October and December, we've got Victorian sci-fi, Arthurian fantasy and worldwide comedy to come, and what with the cold days beginning to settle in you certainly won't want to miss any of it. So, what are the shows you need to see? Here's our full Most Anticipated list for the final quarter of 2012...
5. ELEMENTARY- Though it has been hugely debated for its Brit similarities, the US version of Sherlock- Elementary- is looking interesting thanks to its stars Johnny Lee-Miller and Lucy Liu. With the latter playing a female version of Watson, we'll definitely be excited to find out whether James Moriarty factors into the opening season of the adapted detective drama. Keep your eye on Sky Living, as Elementary could shock and thril on big levels. (October 23rd-Winter)
4. WIZARDS VS ALIENS- Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures' ex-showrunner Russell T Davies is back on CBBC for more science-fiction action involving both magicians and extraterresterials. Wizards VS Aliens may not be the most original TV programme on the block, but with Davies at the helm it's sure to be better than its other children's competitors by a big margin. (October-December)
3. AN IDIOT ABROAD: THE SHORT WAY ROUND- How do you top two globe-trotting seasons of An Idiot Abroad? Bring Warwick Davis into the mix. Karl Pilkington has always provided laughs aplenty at the helm of this comedy documentary series, yet with the famed dwarf actor sitting in the basket while he cycles across Europe, we should be in for a whole new mixuture of hilarity and creative innovation abroad. (Christmas)
2. MERLIN- Last night saw the premiere of the brilliant Arthur's Bane Part 1, and now we've got a big and exciting series plot arc to watch unfold in the next twelve weeks. Mordred is here to herald Arthur's demise, Morgana stands on the brink of insanity as she searches in desperation for the fabled key to Camelot's destruction, and Merlin must now face the ultimate choice- should he tell Arthur his secret while Camelot enters its golden age without magic...? The answers to all of these questions and more are still to come while this epic final season continues throughout October-December. (October 13th-December 29th)
1. DOCTOR WHO- But at the peak of this list must of course come the show which dazzled, thrilled us and broke our hearts over the course of just five weeks last month. Doctor Who will be back with a new festive debut for the new companion played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, already shrouded in a wealth of mystery. Does her character share more than a resemblance to the deceased Oswin from Asylum Of The Daleks? Seeing as Steven Moffat is writing this Christmas tale, you can bet the answer's Yes, but don't expect just another River Song story of back-to-front lives this time around! As to what classic Christmas story the episode will be loosely based on? Wait until Children In Need and see...(December 25th)
