Our first details on 2013's big superhero fantasy sequel are here!Marvel Studios have a lot on their plate right now, having just shipped the great Avengers DVD and Blu-Ray and now setting their focus on a bunch of solo movies for the Earth's Mightiest Heroes in preparation for their next team-up in 2015. One such new solo instalment is Thor: The Dark World, the sequel to 2011's hit fantasy flick Thor which features Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins and the rest of the original gang as well as newcomers such as Christopher Eccleston in what promises to be an epic follow-up.
We've now got the first synopsis for the sequel, and it reads as follows: "In the aftermath of Marvel's Thor and Avengers Assemble, Thor (Hemsworth) fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malkeith (Eccleston) returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin (Hopkins) and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster (Portman) and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all."
Do we have a big sacrifice in store, then? It's safe to assume that Thor (and Loki) will be back in Avengers 2, so the question where is of course who or what must bite the bullet in order to keep the Nine Realms safe and secure! Thor: The Dark World hammers its way into theatres everywhere on November 8th, 2013.
