"Puny God." The Trickster of Asgard won't be back for the next Marvel team-up ensemble movie...
Joss Whedon has announced that Tom Hiddleston's Loki will not feature in the character line-up for his upcoming superhero film sequel The Avengers 2. The news comes now as Whedon has confirmed to Empire that he has completed his first full draft for the movie's script.
What's the reason we won't see Thor's "adopted" brother appear in the ensemble sequel, then? Apparently, Whedon would rather not have us as viewers feeling a sense of deja vu and simply waiting for another "Puny God" moment from the antagonist in his second standalone piece. By perhaps placing the focus on a bigger villain such as Thanos, the writer and director could hopefully ensure there's no lack of innovation awaiting us in his follow-up.
The Avengers 2 is set for release in cinemas worldwide on May 1st, 2015.
