How SEGA Can Get The Marvel Tie-Ins Right
Every gamer knows that Iron Man 2 was the biggest let-down of 2010, proving universally disliked and ranking at 1/5 here. SEGA certainly didn't have much to live up to however, with the original Iron Man title and The Incredible Hulk both monumental disappointments in their own right and developed by the Sonic The Hedgehog creator. With that in mind, how on Earth can SEGA hope to rise to the challenge with Thor: God of Thunder and Captain America: Super Soldier in the coming months? Well, in my opinion the former is already looking pretty unpromising in its use of Thor's godly hammer to take on foes which seem to simply be minor variants on generic monster henchmen, making the whole experience appear to be one which will rapidly get more and more repetitive, as was the case with Iron Man 2. If SEGA can give us an interesting storyline true to (or as a side-story to) the movie, though, there might be a chance for God of Thunder to enthrall fans of the Norse hero somewhat. Meanwhile with Super Soldier SEGA have the chance to show the sheer strength of an otherwise quite normal World War 2 hero who uses his shield as a weapon. As dull a premise as that might sound for a super-hero game, the time setting could make this stand out in 2011. Trouble is, SEGA aren't exactly known for dishing out excellent film tie-ins, so we'll have to wait until the Summer onslaught of film-to-game adaptations to see whether either of these titles make a genuine impact on the superhero genre.
