2011 Games To Watch #5: Star Wars Kinect
Star Wars and video games have never mixed as flawlessly as the pair perhaps should, but this Kinect-exclusive adaptation of the famed film saga might just change things up. In fact, my only surprise is that the concept of motion-wielding a lightsaber in a game hasn't been thought of before, and without any irksome Wii or PSMove controller sensitivity flaws Microsoft's exclusive camera may revolutionise the franchise. We've very few details of plot or how the game-play of the tentatively titled 'Star Wars Kinect' will work, however judging by the first trailer at E3 2010 it'll be an on-rails experience where you kick ass with your lightsaber and the Force against droids, stormtroopers and Lord Vader himself in a possible Best-Of reel of all the saga's finest moments and duels (Obi-Wan vs Maul? Obi-Wan vs Anakin? Luke vs Vader, anyone?). To be honest, I don't care what form 'Star Wars Kinect' takes so long as it lets us be a Force-fuelled Jedi, is packed with the innovation frequently present in the original trilogy and doesn't try to go hyper-realistic on the graphics front (the trailer seemed to indicate the visuals will bear similarity to The Clone Wars series), and knowing LucasArts the developers won't let us down!
