2011 Games To Watch #7: Marvel VS Capcom 3
One decade after Marvel VS Capcom 2 took arcade outlets by storm, we have a fully fledged sequel for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 out next month, and if developer Capcom's Super Street Fighter IV (9/10) is anything to go by we're in for a real treat as its iconic characters take on an ensemble of super heroes and villains from everyone's favourite comic books. On the side of Capcom highlights include Ameratsu (yes, that's right, fans it's the wolf from Okami), Nathan Drake, Albert Wesker (check out Resident Evil for some background) and beastly boxer Ryu, while the former group in the title span years of illustrated history like Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, the Incredible Hulk and the famed flying robot M.O.D.O.K (don't worry, I would be pretty impressed if you had heard of him). Although all these factors hardly seem new for the fighter genre, a massive story mode brings both universes together (hence the sub-title 'Fate of Two Worlds') to battle against the teamed-up enemies in each world in a plot that has loads of endings that depend on which character you play as. Given Capcom's frequent devotion to providing beautiful cut-scenes for each character and major replay value in that every character will have a great climax that is worth persevering for. It'll be a surprise if Marvel VS Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is anything other than an epic compilation of two worlds packed to the brim with gaming icons, and you can get the full review right here next month!
