Star Wars: The Complete Saga- What We Want

September 27th will see the release of the Star Wars Complete Saga box-set for Blu-Ray, featuring all six films, brand new deleted scenes and "exciting features" that are as yet unnamed...but we can dream! Here are our top five hopes for the set, some more desperate than others, but all which would make for a perfect George Lucas compliation only strived for in his previous sets...
5. THE PREQUEL TRILOGY DOC- Much as we all share unpleasant memories of those prequel movies The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, it would be great to at least see how they were made in a detailed documentary like the one provided on the box-set of the 1980s classics, and perhaps even a reflection from Lucas as to where things went awry?
4. A POSSIBLE FUTURE- What if George Lucas had gone on to write the long-rumoured Episodes VII-IX, what then? Would he have stuck to the established Expanded Universe from the novels, games and comics or created his own mythology in a new timeline? Even if Lucas didn't comment, some speculation from famous fans would bulk out the Blu-Rays significantly come September.
3. THE MERCHANDISE- No one could possibly say that the sci-fi saga has been lacking in official products, with everything from video games to action figures to cupholders released over the years. If the set came with a cohesive look at the best and worst examples of merchandise and the Expanded Universe (e.g. the Clone Wars; post Return) it'd add some superb value.
2. THE ORIGINAL CUTS (BUT BETTER!)- It took years for Lucasfilm to release 2-disc DVD sets of the original theatrical versions of Star Wars, Empire and Return, and even then they didn't look great digitally- right this wrong for Blu-Ray, please!
1. STAR WARS: THE IMPACT- Star Wars has got to be one of the biggest cult entertainment phenomenons of all time- why not find out why? This major documentary would involve a delve into the Lucas archives (already promised for the set for unknown reasons) to investigate everything that came before, during and after the times the saga premièred in cinemas and how one film in 1977 went from being just another sci-fi to an all time hit. This one is really wishful thinking on my part, but considering the set is going to cost about £100, the makers of the set should really give its content (in and out of the films) some genuine thought!
