The Dark Knight Rises In LA, UK and Detroit
We already knew the title of the third and final Batman film starring Christian Bale and directed by Christopher Nolan, now we know where it's shooting this year. The Dark Knight Rises will hit the cameras in Los Angeles, the United Kingdom and central Detroit before 2011 ends as Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman chronicle the final days of the Caped Crusader's turn from hunted figure of the shadows to Gotham's last and greatest defence against its terrifying enemies. Curiously, there's no sign of Chicago on the list of locations for filming- Chicago has formed the Gotham City backdrop in both Batman Begins (2005, 4.5/5) and The Dark Knight (2008)- so perhaps a different, lighter tone is in store for The Dark Knight Rises? We doubt it, as the previous two instalments have just continued to get darker, introducing Cillian Murphy's horrific Scarecrow and the late Heath Ledger's insane Joker, and therefore it might well be that this time around we'll see more locations on the city skyline up close. Either way, expect The Dark Knight Rises to cause a stir among the 2012 line-up of films including The Avengers, The Hobbit, Ghost Rider 2, Wrath of the Titans, Madagascar 3, Men In Black III, Star Trek 2, Spider-Man, Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Bourne Legacy, Monster's Inc 2 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part Two (once again a big year for movies)!
