The team will be back in action in a few years' time!
Disney and Marvel Studios have today confirmed that a sequel to this year's hit superhero ensemble movie Avengers Assemble (5/5) will enter production in the near future. Avengers is quickly and surely becoming one of the biggest financial hits of recent times in this industry, heading towards earning a worldwide total of over $1 billion. If it can reach and surpass that figure, there's even a chance that this absolutely stunning team-up from the masterful director Joss Whedon could best the megamoth of a grosser that was 2008's The Dark Knight, putting it up against Titanic and top earner Avatar in the overall rankings. It's no surprise, then, that Disney want to get a second flick in the series off the ground and running in the next dew years. Before that, of course, Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 are coming next year and Captain America 2 and another superhero flick in 2014, so I wouldn't even be surprised if Avengers 2 managed to make a 2015 release date. We're sure to hear more writing, cast, narrative and directorial debuts in the next few months, but for now, check out the film again if you get the chance or get to cinemas ASAP if you haven't already!
