1999 Mode Announced For BioShock Infinite
BioShock Infinite is looking like one of the biggest and best video game releases of 2012, and for hardened fans of the franchise things can only get better, as developer Irrational Games have today revealed the '1999' mode. This extra difficulty level has players watching for the consequences of their actions a lot more intently, conserving ammunition and stamina where necessary for the boss battles ahead and to survive the events of the already-intense storyline. Here's creator Ken Levine's thoughts on the newly confirmed mode: "We want to give our oldest and most committed fans an option to go back to our roots. In 1999 mode, games face more of the permenant consequences of their gameplay decisions. In addition, 1999 Mode will demand that players pick specialisations, and focus on them." I can't wait to see what BioShock Infinite has in store, and with any luck we'll be finding out in the Summer months of the year rather than the much-vaunted and risky Autumn of Gaming!
